Sunita Foundation (SF) is a non-profit organization established in 2019 by survivors of human trafficking. The organization was founded and led by Ms. Sunita Danuwar, a globally recognized Trafficking in Person (TIP) Hero-2018.
SF builds on the legacy and more than two decades of experience of its Founder, Ms. Sunita Danuwar, whose pioneering leadership in the anti-trafficking movement laid the foundation for survivor-led change in Nepal and beyond. Guided by her vision and dedication, Sunita Foundation works to prevent trafficking, protect the rights of survivors, and empower at-risk women and children to live dignified, independent lives. Our programs are rooted in a right-based, and trauma-informed approach focusing on prevention, protection, rehabilitation, and reintegration through holistic approach, in health, education, legal support, vocational training, and livelihood. Alongside direct services, SF also engages in advocacy, campaigning, and policy reform, ensuring sustainable change for future generations.
Following the untimely demise of Ms. Sunita Danuwar, Sunita Foundation embraced intergenerational leadership, with her daughter carrying forward the mission and vision to continue the legacy of survivor-led transformation.
